False advertisement from a sales person?

I signed a contract for World's Gym in May of 07. I was told ';verbally'; by the sales person that I would never see a member within the duration of my contract receive a better rate/month then what I was contracted to pay ($53.00/month for 2 years).

Now the Gym changed their name to Urban Active and are charging members $30.00/month for memberships without long term contracts.

What course for action would you take?False advertisement from a sales person?
might take a bit of effort, but someone inside that outfit might be agreeable to letting you pay at the lower rate.the written contdact takes precedence, but they might change it if you press the issue.they might allow you to sell your balance of membership dues to a third party,...like subleting an apartment or condoFalse advertisement from a sales person?
Talk to the management and see what they can do. You did sign a contract, you would have a hard time proving that the employee knew the gym would be sold.

don't think you can. you signed a contract for that rate and there are probably things in the guidelines preventing you from breaking w/o paying a fee. Talk to management and see if they can make you a deal. if your contract doesn't require fee to break, threaten to leave the gym, they will offer you some good deals to stay, sometimes including promotional items and a better rate.

in the future, make sure that is written. Also, in the future, pay memberships up front. I pay $15/month for me and my wife for 3 years, including day care and any classes we want. up front it was $500. we can renew the contract after the 3 years and pay month to month of $18 for the both of us, this is from 24hr fitness.
