Is this False Advertisement?

I recently tried to purchase a TV from buy.com that they had most likely accidentally had priced for 55$ for a 50inch hitachi 720p tv. About 2 hours after placing the order and receiving confirmation i was sent a cancellation email. I had no part in this cancellation and they are trying to tell me it's because the manufacturer does not make these anymore, which i know is a lie. Is this false advertisement? Should i be guaranteed this price? Is this False Advertisement?
You are not guaranteed the price based on accidents, especially if it is a VERY obvious error. Accidents happen, that does not mean you are entitled to benefit from them.Is this False Advertisement?
This is not false advertising. They did not promise that they had it in stock. The only promised to sell you one at $55 if they have one to sell. A confirmation letter is only to say they got your order and are processing it. Not a guarantee they have the item. When they cancelled the order, they said in effect, ';We don't have it and we can't get it.'; The same would be if they sent a letter tellling you it is backordered. Not false advertising.

As far as them saying the manufacturer doesn' t make it anymore, that may be what they are being told by the manufacturer. If that is so, then there is no false advertisement on Buy.com's part.

I know that a 720p is almost impossible to get where I live. If you can find one it is a close-out or clearance item.
RuthR's response is right on. Most email order items comes with a caveat on most confirmatios: ';orders are subject to change; at any time.'; There is no such thing as a guaranteed price.

Good luck!
I would be talking to a Attorney about now.
